The crucial benefits of playing

POVERTY IS A PRESSING ISSUE THAT AFFECTS MILLIONS OF CHILDREN WORLDWIDE. THESE CHILDREN OFTEN LACK ACCESS TO BASIC RESOURCES AND ARE EXPOSED TO VARIOUS STRESSORS THAT CAN NEGATIVELY IMPACT THEIR PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, AND COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT.

PLAY IS A CRUCIAL ASPECT OF A CHILD’S DEVELOPMENT, ESPECIALLY FOR CHILDREN WHO COME FROM IMPOVERISHED BACKGROUNDS. MANY CHILDREN LIVING IN POVERTY FACE NUMEROUS CHALLENGES THAT CAN HINDER THEIR PHYSICAL, COGNITIVE, AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT BENEFITS OF PLAY FOR POOR CHILDREN IS ITS IMPACT ON THEIR PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT. MANY CHILDREN LIVING IN POVERTY DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO SAFE AND ADEQUATE PLAYGROUNDS OR TOYS, WHICH CAN RESULT IN A LACK OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY.

THROUGH PLAY, CHILDREN CAN BUILD RESILIENCE, DEVELOP COPING MECHANISMS, AND LEARN TO NAVIGATE DIFFICULT SITUATIONS. THIS CAN BE ESPECIALLY BENEFICIAL IN HELPING CHILDREN OVERCOME THE CHALLENGES AND ADVERSITIES THEY FACE ON A DAILY BASIS.

GAZA has been facing a dire poverty crisis for decades. With a population of over 2 million people, the majority of whom are Palestinian refugees, Gaza has one of the highest poverty rates in the world. According to the United Nations, over 53% of the population lives below the poverty line. The poverty in Gaza also has a severe impact on children, who make up more than half of the population. Many children are forced to drop out of school to work and contribute to their families income.

One of the major consequences of poverty in Sudan is food insecurity. Many families struggle to put food on the table, leading to malnutrition and hunger, especially among children. This not only affects physical health but also hinders children’s ability to attend school and receive an education, perpetuating the cycle of poverty.

Poverty - Conflict - displacement

SUDAN is a country that has long been plagued by poverty, with a staggering 52.3 percent of its population living in poverty. The ongoing civil war in Sudan has resulted in displacement, destruction of infrastructure, and loss of livelihoods for many Sudanese people, exacerbating the poverty situation. Additionally, the country has been hit hard by natural disasters, such as droughts and floods, which have further destabilized the economy and left many people struggling to survive.

The global refugee crisis has brought attention to the plight of displaced individuals and families, particularly children. Among these vulnerable populations, refugee children are often the most disadvantaged and marginalized. Due to their forced displacement, refugee children are disproportionately poorer compared to other household members. In light of these challenges, it is crucial for social protection interventions to prioritize refugee children.

Half
of Yemen's population lives below the poverty line and around 20% are living in extreme
poverty

YEMEN one of the poorest countries in the world. This high level of poverty can be attributed to a combination of factors, including political instability, conflict, and economic challenges.

Yemen has been embroiled in a civil war since 2014, leading to widespread destruction of infrastructure and displacement of millions of people. As a result, basic necessities such as food, water, and healthcare have become increasingly unaffordable for the majority of Yemen’s population. The lack of access to education and employment opportunities has also perpetuated the cycle of poverty, limiting the potential for individuals to improve their living conditions.
